Considered as one of the most influential British artists today, David Hockney (b.1937) has built a successful career with a deep focus in painting over the last 60 years. Working with a vast range of media including prints, stage designs, and photographs, he has produced a unique and exuberant visual language that reflects diverse subject matter. His figurative paintings, which have had a profound impact on the pop art movement in the 1960s, were characterized by personal narratives and scenes from his daily life.
By capturing his close relationships with loved ones and places he has visited through bold and vibrant gestures across the canvas, Hockney presents his openness toward his surroundings, a unique quality that perfectly conveys a specific moment. Hockney recently introduces new body of works using the iPhone and iPad, creating new possibilities for two-dimensional representation. Through his impressions of precious moments, Hockney displays beautiful sceneries including the seasonal change, fiery sunset and sunrise, nostalgic landscape through the window, and fresh flowers in the vase. In this series, Hockney fully invites us to follow his distinctive way of seeing the world.
